So, for all intents and purposes, there's 2 ways to go about it, and the caveat to my saying that is that I'm only referring to the specific solution you're looking for, which is "how to set up access to have write permission" and I agree with mdpude in that it would be more sensible to have your friend create an Admin or Editor role within the Wordpress Sites you are going to be editing. In any case, this simply is to explain that I'm lead to believe you do not have shell access. Even though you're connecting using SFTP, that just means you're using port 22 and making a secure connection. When your friend made the account, did they give you shell access?ĮDIT: I read your post over and realized they created an FTP account for you.
